A wet day for Fiona & Liam at Northcote Manor

Saturday 16th August 2008

Rain was the order of the day again this week as Fiona and Liam married at The Northcote Manor Hotel. Family, friends and lots of children travelled from Kent to join the celebrations which took place mainly inside the hotel due to the terrible weather conditions. Fiona desperately wanted some photographs of herself and Liam beside the lake and gardens so we went down to the bridge and despite the light rain took some romantic shots before the heavens opened once again!

Sunshine for Nicola and Ian at Bondleigh

The sun shone for local Winkleigh couple Nicola and Ian as they married on Friday. The stunning St. James' Parish Church at Bondleigh near North Tawton was the setting for the marriage ceremony, before the bride and groom travelled to their reception at the Fox & Hounds Hotel in a Morgan convertible car. I took Nicola and Ian to the nearby Eggesford woods to shoot some relaxed shots before returning to the hotel to continue the celebrations.

Torrential rain all day for Vicki & Sam

Frithelstock Church was the setting for the marriage of Sam and Vicki on Saturday and despite torrential rain all day a wonderful time was had by all. All photographs of the bride with her parents and bridesmaids were taken at Vicki's parents home before the service. Special pink umbrellas had been bought especially for the occasion and were put into good use all day long! Group photos were taken inside the church before moving on to the reception venue, a beautifully decorated marquee inside Langtree Village Hall. Just before we left for the reception we manged to capture a few shots around the Priory ruins near the church, the only photographs to be taken outside all day.

Sunshine at Fishermans Cott

Local couple, Vicki and Ben chose the Fishermans Cott at Bickleigh near Tiverton as the venue for their wedding on Friday. Family and friends from around the country joined in the celebrations on what turned out the be the sunniest day of the week! After the civil ceremony I photographed the bride and groom with their guests in the gardens of the Hotel, before taking them down to the nearby bridge for some of the more relaxed romantic shots.

Trip to the South Hams for Christina & Tony's Wedding

After a long drive down to Dartmouth and back on Thursday evening in torrential rain and wind to see Christina and Tony about their wedding on Saturday, it was a lovely surprise to drive down two days later in the blazing Sunshine!

Christina arrived at the little Parish church of Blackawton near Dartmouth on a tractor and trailer. Most of the village turned out to greet the happy couple after the service, in which the vicar inadvertently tried to marry Christina to the bestman! Many of the guests where transported to the reception venue in a 1940's bus, where on their arrival they were greeted with a cream tea.


We went down to the beautiful Hope Cove, which was only a mile or so away from the reception venue, to capture some photos of Christina and Tony with holiday makers and locals alike looking on and enjoying the spectacle!

The French invade Wembworthy!

Local teacher Sarah married her french sweetheart Alain at the St. Mary Magdalene Church in Chulmleigh at the weekend. The groom's family and friends travelled across the channel, to join the celebrations on scorching summer's day in the beautiful Devon countryside. After the service I took Sarah & Alain into the woods at Eggesford for some photographs before returning to the couple's home for the reception which was taking place in a marquee in their grounds. Before meeting up with their guests again, the couple asked me to take some special shots of them with their beloved horses which provided me with some really unusual images.

Wedding Photography in the heart of Devon

Roborough near Winkleigh was the setting for the wedding of Emma and Tom at the weekend. Despite the torrential rainfall during the week the fine weather returned just in time as the couple married in the local church. After the service the bride and groom lead their families and guests through the village to the reception venue, a marquee in the garden at Emma's parents home. The beautiful gardens and water feature provided me with a stunning backdrop for some lovely relaxed shots of the happy couple, before they joined the rest of the their guests for the wedding breakfast and dancing into the night.
